Today's digital still cameras and even some video cameras produce video files in the MPEG format. Unfortunately, this format is not supported by every software media player or media device. This is why you should convert your MPEG video files to another format, which is supported by most media devices and players, like AVI for example. An application which enables you to do this is FlasKMPEG.

This Windows program allows you to convert any MPEG file into another format, using a large number of video and audio settings. After the program has been installed, the first thing the user should to is import the desired video file into the program's interface. After doing so, a preview window will be opened, allowing the user to play the video directly in the program's interface.

After previewing the video, the next step is to configure the output format. FlasKMPEG includes several profiles, which automatically adjust the quality settings, according to the device that will play the resulting video. As such, FlasKMPEG includes profiles for creating DVD and VCD compatible video files. Advanced users can manually configure the output format settings, thus having more control over the resulting video file.

FlasKMPEG can automatically detect all the codecs installed into the system and allows the user to fully customize each of them. The advanced settings area of FlasKMPEG allows the user to select the resolution, frame rate and post processing options for the final converted video file. After having all the options configured, the conversion process can begin, just by clicking on the Start Conversion button.
